Vulnerability Exploitability eXchange

VEX and VDR files are also published and updated after a release

VEX documents describe whether known vulnerabilities in included components are exploitable in the specific WebIQ context. They may be published for the first time after a software release or updated later as new CVEs are assessed or existing assessments are refined.

A new VEX state does not automatically require a new WebIQ version. VDR and VEX should be evaluated together: VDR provides the known vulnerabilities, VEX provides the WebIQ-specific assessment.

VEX lifecycle
Release and VEX are separate artifacts VEX and VDR can be updated after release Assessments can be updated
Support and Security Principles
Only the latest release is supported
When a new version is released, support for the previous version ends.
VDR is the vulnerability inventory
Known CVEs are taken from component-specific VDR files even if no VEX assessment exists yet.
VEX remains dynamic
VEX assessments can be added or corrected after release.
Version-specific SBOM
Software components are documented per version and made available automatically.
